Jack Brubaker wasn't letting his opponent's carry-on at Tuesday's weigh-in get to him ahead of their co-main event bout on the Tim Tszyu vs Joel Camilleri PPV at The Star on Wednesday night.
Ty Telford was all talk as the two faced-off after making weight for their WBA Oceania title fight, but Brubaker, who has had two opponents pull out of the fight already, was all confidence.
Having signed with management juggernaut MTK Global last year, 'Gelignite' Jack says his fight with Telford represents the next step on his path to bigger and better bouts overseas.
"It opens doors in England and America, and those places are on fire right now.”
"This will give me a WBA top 15 world rating and will open up doors overseas for me.”
"That's what MTK do for me. Automatically, after my first fight with them I'll be WBA Oceania champion and have a top 15 rating.”
"Once you get that rating, we're just going to go for the WBA champ.”
"Rather than fighting for the WBC belt and all these other organisations and not having structure, I have a game-plan and I'm back in the gym this week - I won't be out for six months waiting for the phone to ring."
It hasn't been a smooth build-up for Brubaker with the multiple opponent changes, but he didn't let it get to him.
"I've had three opponent changes in 10 weeks, but it doesn't matter. As long as there's someone standing opposite me when the bell rings, I'm good to go," Brubaker said.
"Cameron Hammond pulled out with a heart muscle.”
"Adam Kaoullas pulled out two hours after I put up a video of me hitting the bag - he had another heart muscle.”
"Ty Telford's the last one to step up, it's a big mistake on his part, but he's up for it, he's keen."
As for Telford's smack talk, Brubaker reckons it's driven by fear.
"I'm about an inch taller than him and he's calling me little man," he laughed.
"It just shows he's scared - I'd be nervous if I was him as well.”
"For all that show, I'll let my hands do my talking tomorrow night.”
"He's up for it. That's what we wanted. I didn't want to come on a main event show and not fight someone that was up for it, willing and aggressive.”
"I'm the best in Australia and I'm going to show it tomorrow night."
