Muhammad Waseem to face ex-World Champion Ganigan Lopez in Dubai

Pakistan’s top professional boxer Mohammad Waseem will face a three-time WBC light flyweight world champion, Ganigan Lopez from Mexico in Dubai.

According to boxingtalk.com, Muhammad Waseem has received the support of another Pakistan sports legend Wasim Akram ahead of his return to the ring on Friday’s Rotunda Rumble2 card at Caesars Bluewater in Dubai.

Waseem (9-1, 7 KOs) goes up against [faded] former 108-pound title holder Ganigan Lopez who has won 36 of the 46 fights (36-10). And, both of them are ready to face each other on November 22, 2019. 

Waseem’s only loss came in a 2018 flyweight title bid vs. Moruti Mthlane, but now he is looking to build on the momentum he secured in September when he knocked out Conrado Tanamor in 62 seconds.

Regarding the fight, Muhammad Waseem said that to fight with Mexican boxer he had done a lot of preparation and, his preparation is complete.

He added that Gangan Lopez is ahead of him in the experience, but he has high hopes for his success and will be able to beat Gangan Lopez and glorify the name of Pakistan.

Cricket superstar Akram has heaped praise on his countryman Waseem. Akram said: “Muhammad Waseem won his last fight in 62 seconds and I’m looking forward to seeing him hopefully win his upcoming fight. He’s fighting with a former world champion and I’m really proud of him. I believe he’ll win this fight too and go onto be a successful champion.”
